Theses where my thoughts when I designed theses
I have a land rover defender and didn’t like the look of what was out there, so I thought about making these products. I wanted nice high quality billet aluminium parts to look right, and in keeping with the defender look. I wanted them to last and look good at all times. To be strong and look it, with no play in parts so they would not rattle. I wanted the best coatings available so they will look good. I wanted the parts to be safe against people who steal stuff. I didn’t want the standard seals the spoil the look. I wanted the bonnet height to be adjustable so that it misses checker plate and not ruin paint work. I wanted the hinge to be smooth in movement.
The hinges are 5 degrees tapered to the front which I thick looks right defender.
The hinges have an o ring seals underneath, so water doesn’t sit between the 2 mating services.
The bonnet can’t be hinged, then lifted off like the stock one, due to the bush design.
The bushes have an off centred hole so you can pick 2 heights.
Bottom hole standard height, top hole 4mm higher. This stops checker plate bonnet rub. Check the pictures out which shows the bushes flipped over to adjust height.
The bonnet pins have dimples machined into the pins, so that the grub screw lock into place. This stops the pins being knocked out the side of hinges from thefts.
You don’t have to worry about washing you defender or using screen wash. You can use TFR (Traffic Film Remover) and not worry who washes your land rover by using coating below.
We use cerakote C series ceramic coatings. Much better than anodising, don’t have to worry about chemicals. It’s a more expensive coating to anodising (anodising is cheap) It’s also hard to scratch being a ceramic and non-stick. Not limited by anodising colours. Worth researching the coating to see what you think. Some info about coating below.
