Defender Front Headliner Support

Defender Front Headliner Support

Designed to fit the Land Rover Defender Puma models. While it will likely fit other Defender variants, fitment on non-Puma models has not been tested and cannot be guaranteed.

Background

When fitting a Wolfbox mirror arm, I noticed the front section of the headliner was sagging significantly. After removing the interior light near the mirror, I found an aluminium roof beam and identified a suitable mounting point within the light fitting area that could be used to provide additional support.

I designed and tested several prototypes before arriving at a simple but effective solution. The final 3D-printed support bracket is profiled to the required shape and includes adjustment slots to allow precise positioning during installation.

Installation

  1. Remove the interior light fitting.

  2. Position the support bracket against the roof beam.

  3. Mark the mounting slot positions and drill the holes for the supplied rivet nuts.

  4. Install the rivet nuts.

  5. Loosely attach the support bracket.

  6. Refit and align the interior light assembly.

  7. Adjust the support position as required for the best fit.

  8. Fully tighten all fixings.

Results

The support significantly reduces headliner sag and provides a much more solid mounting point for the interior light fitting. Once installed, the sun visors sit level with the headliner, giving a noticeable improvement in both appearance and fitment.
